tulip festival

here are some pictures of our adventures at the tulip festival... i got a haircut between our first outing and our second in case you didn't notice. other news: mya is starting to get her first tooth, starting to get up on her knees and do the pre-crawl rock but is still not consistently sitting up.

serum sickness

when i posted last week that we'd all been sick for essentially the month of february i had no idea that the worst was yet to come. mya woke up on friday morning with a wicked rash that spread and changed colors to the point that every doctor and nurse that saw her just kept saying 'what a dramatic rash, i've never seen anything like that before'. yeah it was bad. so after spending the night in the hospital and a phone consultation with the head of dermatology and the children's hospital in seattle they decided it was serum sickness (a kind of hyper allergic reaction) to the amoxcillin she was given for the double ear infections the week before. oh yeah and as if that weren't enough she has a touch of pneumonia to boot. i think she's on the mend and the rash is all but gone. here are some rash photos.

the sickly ickly house

february has been a bust. mya turned six months on february 7th and celebrated by having pink eye. that's all cleared up but all of us have been cycling through colds and it has totally sucked. new things that she's doing despite being under the weather are babbling babababa's and making a really funny sound that seems like her imitation of me clearing my throat while i was having one of my bouts with illness, grabbing her feet and pulling her socks off.

milestone alert!

mya rolled over for the first and second time last night and the third time this morning, just try keeping her on her stomach now!

also while i have the chance...

i haven't been a very good blogger so while i have the chance (i.e. my boss and all of the faculty at my work are in a meeting) i will update you as best i can on all of the goings on here. for starter's mya is 5 months old today. yep that's right. she is on the verge of rolling over and i will be really suprised if she hasn't done it by the end of the weekend. her new favorite things are giggling (especially when i'm reading dr. seuss - thanks aunt reagan for the books it is now official she is a child prodigy with great taste in literature), blowing raspberries, making her baby food squish out of her mouth, and yom yoms. old favorites that she still loves: being naked, peeing while naked, bathtime, and motown music. also i found out yesterday i have the possibility of working part time - we have to figure out if we can afford still so i'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but please cross your collective fingers that it works out so that i can have more mama and mya time. lastly we have successfully conquered cold number two.
