mya's first christmas

mya had a great first christmas. here are some pictures:

mya's doing great at daycare though mama's had a relapse this week. don't worry i'm recovering now but it's a hard go of things when you want to stay home with baby and you can't (made worse of course by the neverending suckiness of my job).

a follow up from last week - i was excused from jury duty and mya has mastered sweet potatoes and is now on to enjoying squash.

a week of firsts

mya started daycare this week and is adjusting pretty well and even taking her bottles from miss tammy. other firsts that happened this week eating sweet potatoes (she'll eat them but she frowns about it - it's quite an adjustment to eat something with flavor), pooped so much it went all the way down into her sock, and mama got called for jury duty. so the excitement begins...

well i don't want to jinx myself but mya has started sleeping much better and is in a better mood during the day now. she's becoming more interested in toys, she loves to suck on her hands, and make lots of different sounds - it's so sweet.

bedtime sucks!

so we've gotten past our first cold, first shots, and now mya's decided that she will not go to bed because there always has to be something i suppose... she's perfectly normal and happy all day until 8:30 - 9:00 when i try to put her to bed and she goes beserk and i can't get her to sleep until around midnight. we even kept her awake almost all day yesterday and it was still the same thing at bedtime. hope this is a brief phase because it is killing me until i die from it! at least she's this cute i guess that makes it easier to deal with ;-)

2 month check up

on mya's two month check up we found out that she's up to 10 pounds and 10 and a half ounces.

we've been home for almost a week and mya's jaundice is gone and she's back up to her birth weight!

so i'm getting induced tomorrow due to the preeclampsia. i go in at 3:00 pst so my doctor doesn't think baby will be making an appearance till friday... we'll have to wait and see.

updates

so i'm now on weekly ob appointments as i will be 36 weeks tomorrow. i've also been dealing with pih (pregnancy induced hypertension) which has caused me to be put on bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy. i had an appointment today and my bp was still high but better than last week so that is a good sign that the bedrest is helping. so that's all the news there, i'm just resting and keeping this baby cookin' for a few more weeks.

bad blogger, no cookie

so i have been a bad lil blogger lately...

i haven't posted anything in quite awhile mostly because all i want to do is complain but here's the newest news: i have weekly doctor appointments now, i am dealing with high blood pressure because of the baby and i may end up on modified bedrest at some point because of it. my next appointment is tomorrow afternoon.

mostly i am just really swollen, uncomfortable, and tired all of the time. so waaa for me.

last saturday i had a baby shower at my friend margaret's house. it was great and we gots lots of great stuff for baby like a bouncey seat, all of the bath items, jammies, a diaper stacker, and a kick ass diaper bag! here are some photos...

appointment update

i just had another appointment, everything is still cooking as it should. nothing exciting to report. i start going more often now, here are the dates of my next appointments: 6/30, 7/14, 7/28, 8/4.

also as you may know i had a baby shower on june 13th which was awesome - i will post pictures and more about that later this week or this weekend.

lamaze class

we had our first lamaze class last night. it was ok except i wasn't really prepared for them to show the labor videos on the first night nor was i prepared for the doctor on the film to hold the placenta up like a big bloody prize after the delivery. ack.

we'll have class every tuesday night till july 14th.

appointment update

my appointment on wednesday was good: weight, blood pressure, etc. are all good. i passed my glucose test so yeah i get to eat the cookies my mom sent for my anniversary which was also on wednesday the 20th. baby's still moving a lot and and at the appointment they listened to the heartbeat on the doppler and it's really strong and she even kicked the part of the doppler that goes on my belly which was kind of funny. all my lovely 'side effects' like swollen ankles, rib pain, etc. are all normal and just part of it she said. next appointment is june 16th.

glucose test

well my glucose test is out of the way. it wasn't so bad i guess but i'm definitely glad it's over with! i'll probably get my results at my next ob appointment which is on the 20th but i'm not worried about it since i haven't had any symptoms indicating there might be an issue.

cravings

i would literally kill someone for a double doozie cookie right now. if we crave things because our body / the baby needs something then why am i not craving healthy things?!

another appointment down

i had another ob appointment on wednesday. nothing exciting, just my routine monthly check up. everything is still progressing as it should and we're both healthy. i did find out that i have to do my glucose test next month - yuck.

half way there...

fyi - i am 20 weeks today which is half way point. here's a taste of what it's like:

i am getting kicked lightly, but frequently
i can't pee without farting
i can still see my feet but i can no longer see my monkey
i have completely given up trying to wear non-maternity pants
it is extremely difficult to get up from lying down or from sitting in the floor
i am eating every 2 - 4 hours and sleeping 9 - 10 hours a night plus naps on the weekend
i must have a snack and tums with me at all times

i'm sure there are many more exciting things but i can't remember what they are because i also have short term memory loss (worse than usual) and am in an almost constant state of confusion (again worse than usual).

the big ultrasound was today and as you probably know i did not want to find out the sex. traven on the other hand did so i let him find out when i was out of the room - i as it turns out couldn't stay him knowing so now we all know - it's a girl!

the rest of the appointment was good, everything thing is cookin' like it should be. baby weighs approximately 10oz at 19 weeks.

here's my update on today's appointment: my quad screen was good, blood pressure is good, and my weight gain is good (8lbs total so far). plus we got to hear the baby's heartbeat at this appointment the heart rate was 145 was is also good. all in all we're all healthy and doing great. also starting to feel some occasion movement which is super weird! my appointment for the 'big' ultrasound is 4/3, next week - wow.

expanding exponentially

i am planning on buying some actual maternity clothes this weekend, i am starting to push the limits on my regular attire. may the force be with me.

today instead of feeling embarassed that someone walked up the to window at my work while i was scratching my belly i was like how dare you interrupt me while i'm scratching my belly.

ob appointment

yesterday i had an appointment with my ob and an ultrasound. everything looks good, i thought i was going to get to hear the heartbeat but that won't be until the next appointment i found out. the ultrasound was good, they could see a strong heartbeat and it was flipping around in there like it was doing under water acrobatics.

i scanned the ultrasound pictures into the computer to post here they are almost all black and you can't see anything. so i'm not going to bother posting them.

my next appointment is 3/23 and then i have the 'big' ultrasound on 4/3 and that is when they can tell if it's a boy or a girl but i don't want to find out.

oh yeah and i have another due date now, this one is 8/26.

nursery set

hey i am going to post the link to target.com for the nursery set that we like. i have the crib set which is the bumper, a fitted sheet, and a blanket. i know it's a bit early to register or anything like that but this pattern is on clearance on i don't know how long it will last.

stinko rides again

even though my nausea has subsided my super nose has not therefore stinko is still a problem. (for those of you who don't know stinko is a "woman" who works at the research center who is roughly the size of a rhino who apparently feels that dousing yourself with f.d.s. is an acceptable substitute for bathing. ) she is back with avengence today and has fumigated my office several times. my current method for dealing with this is to wear a possibly excessive amount of patchouli in hopes that my hippie stink will conquer her nasty stink though it is only marginally sucessful... so if i'm in your thoughts do me a favor and start crossing your fingers that it decides to retire so that i don't end up pelting her with soap and deodorant.

pee rant

yesterday i had go to a lab and give my blood and urine sample as part of my first appointment and in the span of three hours the lab lost my urine sample. i was like are you effing kidding me what did you do with my pee?! i had to go back in today and do it again and they people working there were totally rude about it and they never even apologized or anything.

speaking of the whole urine sample business, i get that i'm going to have to do it a lot but what i didn't expect was that my ob/gyn office would give me a cup and a bag so that i have to bring it in with me for each appointment. so i get to carry my pee around in my purse. yeah!

appointment update

i just had an appointment this afternoon, it was previously scheduled for the 9th but the had to change it. anyway, it was just informational - they take your health history, a urine sample, and five vials of blood and give you a bunch of brochures and things to read and send you on your merry way.

so nothing exciting at the doctor's but i did find out that i have only gained one pound so far which is lucky considering i've been totally pigging out lately. and speaking of pigging out i stopped at 'the net' on my way back to work and found that a hot fudge milkshake is an acceptable substitute for steak-n-shake.

started exercising again too, thirty minutes of pilates last night - yeah!

earthquake

apparently we had an earthquake early this morning at about 5:20 or so, it was a 4.5 with the epicenter being on the peninsula but really not very far from us. i don't think any damage has been reported. i am totally bummed that i missed it, woke up to pee about 30 minutes after it. i don't know it probably seems weird but i just seems like it would've been exciting....

finally

at 10 weeks i am finally feeling better (insert hallelujah chorus here), i think i might live after all. now i am in the hungry phase where i find that i crave things that i have absolutely no way of obtaining such as "chili mac" and fries and a chocolate milkshake from steak-n-shake which in case you don't know is only located in arkansas and missouri and i am in washington. bleck. oh well it beats be pukey 24/7.

update on appointments - my next one is on february 9th but that is just the one where the nurse takes all of your most personal information and blood samples, etc. following that i have an appointment with the ob/gyn on february 24th for my first exam with her. seems like a long time to wait but i'm sure i'll get my fill of doctor appointments soon enough.

ob/gyn vs. midwife

i have now had my trial appointments with both the ob/gyn and the midwife so now it's decision time... suprisingly i liked the ob/gyn office better which isn't what i expected but the doctor was really nice and so was her nurse. the midwife was fine too but i guess you have to go with your gut. now to set up my next appointment.

pregnancy is lame

so i have spent yet another weekend holding the couch down. i enjoy sloth as much as the next person but come on, i am really sick of being sick. no seriously. while i do think that i am feeling better than i was initially i am still far from where i would like to be. i am wearing sea bands which are for motion or sea-sickness and that seems to help along with trying never to get too hungry or too full.

btw: this week i have two appointments one with an ob/gyn and the other with a midwife group that operates out of the hospital so after those are out of the way i will know who i will be using as a doc.
